Navan Dublin 1906 steam train timetable
A 19th century steam train could have travelled from Navan to Dublin in an hour on a journey which can take can take commuters two hours today.
The 70 minute timetable contains a 5 minute stop at Kilmessan and 4 minute stop at Liffey Junction which would have delayed the train's progress. The trip could have been accomplished even faster.
However, railway companies at the time were loath to drive their trains harder than necessary as higher speeds resulted in more wear and tear for both track and trains, and consequently higher running costs.

The timetable has been simplified with preceding stops from the Navan Kingscourt line removed as well as post Broadstone freight stops to Northwall.
